Fairly good sound quality. Nice versions of The man's too strong and Brothers in arms. Funny to hear Mark Knopfler dedicates a song to somebody, which happens very rarely. Before Going home he says: "We're gonna play this one for a friend of ours, called Simon". I always wondered who this person was. Another fan told me that he read an article in a French newspaper dated from the 22nd June 1985 which might clear up who this Simon is: during the day of 10th June 1985 before the show in the "Stade Louis II" at 9.00 pm, Dire Straits were at the hotel in Monaco. Some technician of the crew was near the swimming pool and a light-technician has been electrocuted, he had a cardiac-arrest and he died. So, this technician probably was Simon... This recording is virtually 100% complete, only the last 20 seconds of Sultans of swing are missing and there's a little break in the middle part of Tunnel of love. Both little omissions must be due to tape change.

Espero que todos apreciem esse maravilhoso registro da BIA Tour 85/86!

Nick Stephens disse...

Simon was my brother - Simon John Stephens. He was a Light & Sound Technician with Dire Straits on the Brothers in Arms and previous tour(Alchemy gigs?). He was from Sutton Coldfield Birmingham UK.He was sunbathing by the Hotel pool at 4pm on Sunday 9/6/85. He fell asleep and developed Heat stroke which led to a cardiac arrest. When Dire Straits came to the NEC Birmingham UK, later that month, myself, my parents and two sisters met with Mark Knophler crew and management. We were told about the Going Home Dedication which gave me some comfort and since when listening to it. He was only 22yrs old and both Monaco Inquest and Uk one confirmed it was heat stroke. I have always hoped to find a recording so thanks for your posting. Nick Stephens
